Document This Time

Sunday, June 7

Hosted by Alex Zonis and Urban Sketchers Chicago

We are living in troubled times.

No-one is left untouched with what is happening in the world, in our country, in our city. This week we will do a visual documentary of what is happening in our neighborhoods.

Follow our Urban Sketchers Manifesto. Draw what you see happening in real life.

• If you are homebound, please sketch what you see from your window or how your home reflects current events. Please no sketches from TV or internet.
• If you are an essential worker - Thank you for doing your work for us all! Perhaps you can take a few minutes and sketch and share from your workplace - please be safe and do not take unnecessary risks.
• If you are venturing into the streets, draw your neighborhood and let us see it too. Be safe and careful, practice social distancing, do not risk going into hot spots, and abide by your city curfew.

Together let's make a documentary of this time.

Please post your sketches on USk Chicago FB group on Sunday between 12pm and 3pm. Stick around and let's talk about what we saw and drew.

Happy Sketching
Peace and Good Health to all!

Please include #USkAtHome and #USkChicago so we can all find them!

Let's Sketch (at Home) Other Hobbies

Hosted by Gail Dokucu and Urban Sketchers Chicago

Show us more!

We've been having a lot of fun with our Sunday afternoon "virtual throw-downs" and over the last couple months, we've seen some glimpses of other hobbies our members enjoy. Feature one (or more) of your other hobbies in a sketch this week.

As usual, the event will run from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please post your sketches to our Facebook group. Posting officially is from 2:45 - 3:00 p.m. but often we spend more time together beyond 3:00!

Don’t forget to include the tags #USkAtHome and #UskChicago so your sketches can be found easily.

See you Sunday!

12 pm to 3 pm

Here’s the theme for this week’s Virtual Sketch Meet-up:

The Space Where I Create

Hosted by Paul Ingold and Urban Sketchers Chicago

What's your creative space?
An example of "creative space" may be your desk, kitchen table, studio, or whatever space you use to sketch during self quarantine.

A Challenge?
This may involve the challenge of stepping out of your creative space in order to sketch it! : )

As always, the event will run from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Posting officially is from 2:45 - 3:00 p.m. but often we spend more time together beyond 3:00!

Please post your sketches to our Facebook group at 2:45-3:00 p.m.
As always, a description of your sketch is encouraged.

Please include #USkAtHome and #USkChicago so we can all find them!

See you Sunday!

A Time for Reflections!

Sketches by Mary Flock Lempa and Alex Zonis

Our next virtual sketch-meet is

Sunday, March 29

12 pm to 3 pm

The Theme - Reflections

You can interpret it literally - mirrors, shiny reflective objects, chromed bathroom fixtures, polished tables and counters, darkened windows, anything that you can think of. Or you can take it figuratively - what do you reflect on when you are stuck inside on your couch… childhood memories, existential philosophy, literature, music…

Please post your sketches to our Facebook group at 2:45-3:00 p.m. Short descriptions or long-winded philosophical treatises are encouraged.
Please include #USkAtHome and #USkChicago.
Discussion to follow!

See you Sunday!
