Class 4 - SKETCHING OUT THE PERSONALITY OF URBAN VEHICLES

I am a professional designer, illustrator, graphic recorder and concept artist working in the Chicago area for the past 30 years. I have created new concept designs for SC Johnson, Sara Coffee and Foods, Philips Oral Health, Allstate Insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, CNH (construction and agricultural equipment) and many others. More recently I have been a member and co-admin for the Chicago chapter of Urban Sketchers since 2013 and lead 3 sketch workshops on Urban Sketching with Markers

DATE:

12:00 P.M., Saturday, May 6

LOCATION: 

MEET AT 623 S. WABASH, THE CORNER OF WABASH AND BALBO

BREAKDOWN OF 2.5 HOUR CLASS:

5 min. Introduction, qualifications, explanation of workshop topic
15 min. Demonstration of techniques and tools for Exercise 1 with handouts
30 min. Exercise 1 selecting/speed sketching vehicle at close range. Familiarization of vehicle shape, lighting, components Instructor consults with students one–on–one during exercise
15 min. Regroup and discuss shared experiences & questions
10 min. Explanation of Exercise 2
1 hour. Exercise 2: work on sketch, sprinkled with advice, tips. Familiarization of vehicle shape, lighting, components Instructor consults with students one–on–one during exercise
15 min. Q&A, shared experiences, group photos of sketchbooks and students, exchange of contact information for follow-‐ ups

SUPPLY LIST:

  • Students are asked to bring any art supplies they already familiar.
  • At the very minimum, please bring a sketchbook that is at least 8” x 10”, and something to draw with.
  • I use markers and will be happy to give tips and tricks to students wishing additional help with markers.
